Vote Folkpartiet Liberalerna!

Today I will be casting my vote. It feels strange to vote on a Sunday mind you, in the UK its always on a Thursday!

Of course I will be voting Folkpartiet. I will be honest I was very impressed with Jan Björklund when I saw him speak more than I have been with the actual FP candidates. For the election, you vote for a Party and a candidate, you can of course just vote for the Parties and let them award your vote to whoever they want, usually their first candidate.

I will probably vote for Marit Paulsen, the 70 odd year old has made a real campaign for food safety and on agriculture. She is not a career politican which is comforting in this day and age.

I have done some very unSwedish and put a Folkpartiet poster in my window. They dont really do that here as we do back home. The Swedes are intensively private about who they vote for.

I am voting for Folkpartiet for several reasons.

  • Sweden needs the Euro. I never believed in this when I was in the UK but being involved running a Swedish arm of a multinational company I can see how much the Euro would help business.
  • The EU does need stronger partnership, meaningful partnership -- crime doesnt stop at borders and we do need a European FBI
  • Better movement of labour within the EU countries

Of course I dont agree with the FP on everything, cant say I am a big fan of allowing the Turks into the EU, not until they sort their own house out on human rights but you can never agree with everything.
