The loneliness of the long distance runner

Its Sunday which is my designated day for my long run. I wasnt feeling in top form because I had eaten ‘badly’ in Linköping and I could feel it.

I was not in the mood for a 10k run but I was soon into it. Was only around minus one or two and the sun was out.

I ended up running a whopping 13.2kms. This is the longest I have run and I am delighted with that as its now over the half way mark of the half marathon distance. (You can see my route below)

Årstafältet is a nightmare at the moment as there are lots of lorries dumping snow. I had to stop and wait for one and saw a massive ‘GNAGGARE’ scarf in the front of his lorry. Gnaggare is the nickname of the Solna team AIK. I had my green and white, striped Hammarby hat and just pointed at his scarf in the cab and pissed myself laughing. The lorry driver looked shocked and offended in one..ha ha I love it. That gave my run an extra bounce I can tell you but I should not be so naughty really ;-)

Well done!!

I’m doing 4-5 km every other day at the moment and haven’t really put any structure to my running yet. However, you inspire me to start taking this more seriously.

Yes but that still a good amount of running a week Dave.

The textbook says you should only increase your distance by 10% each week so dont be following me ;-)
