in Our Man in Sweden

I must confess that SL Stockholms transport is very efficient.  I rarely have any disruption to my journeys into the office but today I did and today I was rather angry.

The train got to Slussen, pulled away and immediately braked. I assumed someone had pulled an alarm, or was stuck in a door. But..after ten minutes we were still stuck there. They didnt make any announcements and what was worse they didnt even open the door so people could get off.

I rarely see emotional Swedes but the ones in my carriage were getting really animated. Shouted and cursing at the train staff on the platform who still would not get the doors open. All this while green line trains were passing by on the other platform which would have got us all to T Centralen.

Eventually some guy manually opened a door and squeezed through, then another but that was it. Then one guy nonchalantly pressed an emergency button above the door which opened the door automatically and we all hopped off.

Of course hold ups happen. However had they a) made an announcement and b) let people off then I dotn think it would have been such a stressful situation. Ah well it was a nice walk to the office anyway!
