Red Rings of Death

Red Rings of Death

Its a sad day in my house today. (Funny how I say house when I live in a flat.)

My XBOX 360 has snuffed it, yes thats right, gone to the big circuit board in the sky. I wouldn’t call myself a hardcore gamer but this is shocking timing.

Am off until January 7th so I had assembled some XBOX games I wanted to play, Fallout 3 being the best of the pick if you like RPG’s. Rock Band 2 also lets out the rock star in you!

I am a big fan of XBOX LIve. This enables you to play against your mates all over the world. I have been on XBOX Live since it was first launched on the old XBOX back in 2002 and funnily enough I have the same group of mates from that era.

So today I flicked the switch only to be greeted by that horrendous sight, the thing every XBOX gamer dreads…three blinking red lights, its game over, finito!

XBOX 360s have been haunted by this problem, its happened to me once before and I sent it to Microsoft who repaired it and sent it back. Now I am in Sweden and I ain’t sending the XBOX to England to get fixed, besides which I am sure its out of warranty.

So time for a new one. Yes I can hear you. Most people would abandon the XBOX and switch to Playstation but I have got a lot of enjoyment from my XBOX 360 and I have got my moneys worth. As I said at the start I am not hardcore, my XBOX Live scores and points total will tell you that but its great way to de-stress. There is nothing more satisfying than taking Swansea City to the top of the Premier league in FIFA, or wowing fans with the grinding bass line of Ace of Spades on Rock Band 2.

Ah well, crap timing in one way but at least its the sales time here in Sweden so I may be able to pick one up a bit cheaper than usual.

I feel like giving my XBOX 360 a viking send off but thats not too environmentally frendly. Any one know the best way of recycling it?

You take it in for elektronikåtervinning at your local återvinningsstation. And whilst there you can check out all the other rhings we can recycle in this fine country!

What is your gamertag?
I can add you to my Buddylist on X360.

Forgot to ask.
What kind of RROD error-message did you get?
You can google it up how to look for your code and maybe get it fixed somewhere else outside MS-repair.

Microsoft may still repair/exchange it even if it’s out of warranty, recommend you contact them to check at least.

Hi

My XBOX Live Gamer Tag is The Sweeney. Be good to see you on there.

I will contact MS but cant find the receipt. Will get a new one in the meantime as it took over 5 weeks last time.
