Real Swedish Food

in Our Man in Sweden

I have blogged before that real home made Swedish grub is called ‘husmanskost.’

I have a friend from France visiting so its nice to be a tour guide and in my own way this is a tour for me if you like. A farewell tour of Stockholm.

I have been meaning to go to Pelikan in Södermalm for a long time. My British boss raves about their meatballs but I usually opt for kvärnen because I like the Hammarby stuff on the walls.

We opted for Pelikan and the inside reminded me of a Bavarian beer keller. We managed to get a table, probably due to the fact the temperature was over 20 and most people wanted to be outdoors. Read about the Pelikan history.

I usually go for Pyttipanna when I go for husmanskost but my boss would never forgive me if I had not tried the köttbullar.  They were amazing, these photos do not do it justice, its with my mobile which has crappy quality.

They really were delicious. Its typical I find this place when I am about to leave.
