Obama’s magic fading…

in Our Man in Sweden

Oh I how rejoiced at the awesome victory of Republican Scott Brown in the Mass. Senate Seat.

This was no ordinary victory. This was like the Tories winning Sunderland North as one British paper put it.

This Senate Seat is almost sacred to the US Democratic Party. Held by JFK, then by his brother Teddy, it had been Kennedy and Democratic for over 50 years.

A lot of people have had a go at me for supporting Scott Brown who will now ‘block’ healthcare reform in the Senate. Now I am pro Government run healthcare schemes but its all so easy for us in countries like Sweden and the UK to argue for this but in the US many people are scared of the cost implication and would rather the investment be in employment.

In Massachusetts, Democrats outnumber Republicans by 3:1 so this was not a Republican victory as such but many people say ‘hold on Obama, we are not all with you on this’.

Democracy at work though of course the liberal Left dont see it that way.

Did you know that according to Wikipedia there are 119,267 Swedish Americans living in Massachusetts…
