Nu är jag verkligen Bajen!

On Saturday I bought a season ticket for my local football team Hammarby!

Why I hear some of you ask?

Well one of the things I have really missed this winter is watching real live football. Yes I know the Allsvenskan isnt that great a standard, well not compared with the English Premier or Championship but still its real live football, the heartache, the tears, the exhilaration of winning a match you should never have won, the red cards, the free kicks, the penalties, the crowd. I miss it terribly.

So I decided to get a season ticket for this season. I didnt watch Hammarby as much as I would like last season, mainly because of a heavy workload and the fact that I was still new to the country. Miss P finds it highly amusing that when flat hunting I want to get somewhere in a Bajen area.  I think its better for my health to be honest. For instance today we were up at Solna as I had never seen Råsunda Stadium. We popped into the mall to get a bite to eat and I immediately put my hat on without even think it had H.I.F and the Hammarby flag emblazoned on the front. Miss P suggested it was not such a good idea to wear it around there!

She was right but I clean forgot, what would happened if I lived up there and went for a run in my Hammarby shirt? No doubt I would get a fantastic work out and at high speeds as I get chased by AIK’s finest!

The season ticket cost 2800 SEK, it entitles me to entry to all home Allsvenskan games, the two ‘home’ games against AIK and Djurgården thats played at Råsunda and Swedish Cup matches up until the quarter finals. I got a lovely Hammarby pin badge with 2009 underneath it and apparently I can go to Hammarby IF meetings, not really sure I would do this as my Swedish aint that good!

Its rare tickets sell out, but it saves me the aggro of buying tickets and of course it helps the club with their budget so thats never a bad thing.

I just cant wait for the season to start!

Of course the atmosphere at Hammarby is one of the best I have witnessed.

“Sämre klack än Bajen, ja vi har SÄMRE klack än Bajen, sämre klack än Baaaaajen” – what else is there to say, really!?

Wow I am amazed by such an admission from a gnaget!

Seriously though, I have been in many different football grounds and Hammarby is one that really amazes me. What impressed me most last season was the awful 2-4 defeat to GAIS, when Bajen were 2-0 up, the fans kept singing until the end and only then did the boo or shout at the players.

In the UK, people would have left 10 mins before the end, abused their own players and not got behind the team as the Bajen did.

My mates all loved it when they came over.

NICE ONE!
I can’t afford Season tickets and I don’t have the time right now.
Support them from me =D

Hi mate

Left you message on XBL yesterday, hope you are ok!

In truth I probably cant afford it either, all my spare cash should be put aside for things like a sofa and bed when I eventually move but you have to live a little right!

Let me know if you ever fancy a few beers in Gröna Jägaren and then onto watch the boys!

My local team is going to be Umeå in the 2nd division. Its not gonna be pretty… then again I’m a swindon fan!

Shane you seem to be away at the wrong time. Swansea are awesome at the moment

Let me know when you are settled in Jim and I might come up and catch a game myself. I love seeing new grounds so wouldnt pass up on that opportunity. Good that you will support your local team though (both in UK and in Sweden!)

Yeah Swans are playing some great stuff, I am gutted if truth be told. I have done all the hard trips, Mansfield away on Tuesday night for example. I have done most of the League One and Two grounds so am really missing out.

Mind you I have been back over three times and my record is Won 0 Drawn 1 Lost 2 so probably best I stay away.

OTJ is a cracker and I think he needs a loan move, he is not really getting the games he needs so come to your lot would do him the world of good. On saying that we dont have a large squad and we have bad injuries at the moment so not sure we can spare him!

Only been to the County Ground once, it was a very boozy Saturday. I have a mate Nick who is a Swindon man so it was wierd to have a drink in the Swindon local pub, the one right by the ground, I kept my Welsh accent down that day I can tell you. My other mate was very drunk and he got lost in some graveyard! This was in ’99 or 2000 I think – happy days!

good on you mate. you did the right thing. what section did you get? i hope we get at least two more attacking players or we will probably struggle this year. sorry to say i never got to go to see the swans in london as i have now moved to switzerland. forza bajen!

Haha! I drink in that pub too.

He has signed up for a month now. Making his debut at Colchester tomorrow. Im excited that hes actually good!

Of course come up and watch Umeå. Umeå has launched the career of many a good players. Here is a long list:

Noted players

* Jesper Blomqvist
* Mikael Dahlberg
* Mikael Lustig
* Shamo Quaye

I think football is the main thing Im going to miss. Umeå people are more in the ice hockey team so I cant imagine many people coming along!

Hi!
It’s a shame you didn’t choose the only HIF there is. That’s Helsingborgs IF. Us Swans over here should stick together :)
Anyway, bring on Plymouth ! can see 3 p coming tomorrow

Who are you watching in Switzerland mate? Got a local team lined up?

Jim, so we may have had a pint side by side in the past! I think OTJ will do a cracking job for you.

The good thing about going to a small club is you make friends easier. Its something that can be difficult in Sweden. When I moved to Cambridge I started following the local non league Cambridge City, small but tight knit club and made a load of mates there, its harder at bigger clubs.

Cyril! Alright mush! Nice to know there is another Jack in Sweden. Helsingborg is a nice town, am sometimes over that way we should link up. Maybe I will do a Hammarby game over there.

12 Cyril March 9, 2009 at 10:34 pm

Oi Shane!
Contact me if you are going to Helsingborg. As far as I know there are about 15 jacks in Sweden. 1 welsh bloke that I met in Göteborg and 10-15 from the page svenska fans/Swansea

Jack army!

I am following FC Luzern now, its my new local team. They are in the top division but bottom of the table. The stadium is old, there is beer to buy and any win is a bonus. So adjusting should not be hard. FCL have an uncanny ability to throw away a one goal lead in the last five minutes. It has happened three times in a row now against Basel, YB Bern and FC Zurich. This behavior only makes them more lovable of course…

I have even traveled with them to an away game. I sometimes post stuff at http://bajenlondon.blogspot.com/

Damn you! That’s so NOT how it goes! I’ll get you back for this you know…
