How to rent in Stockholm?

Renting a flat in Stockholm is a nightmare. I was so lucky with my place but others have to move every six months.

My rent is actually a second hand rent and I pay double what my neighbour does but still thats the price you pay but I shouldnt have to.

This is a great article on renting in Stockholm that explains the wierd system in detail.

The one thing that amuses me is government setting the rent that should be charged and that its the same whether you are in the centre or outside the city.

I have decided to buy soon, had enough of this rat race, I am sure there will be some interesting blog material there!

You can get your money back and your future rent adjusted. This is true for both companies and individuals. You shouldn´t accept overcharging. Report this to Hyresnämnden. Just fill out form HN-1.

Du är rätt Hasse men…my landlord has been quite good to me, I take the view that I accepted the rent when I moved in so I should live with it… I know I know I could get a lot of money back but I am too nice….ibland ;-)
