Many people are suprised that I like a bit of Punk Rock! I think I am perceived as being more conservative than I really am.
A good friend of mine educated me back in Cambridge on the various branches of Punk. One year he bought me a UK Subs cd as a present. They were good, though not a band I would listen to as frequently as say the Stranglers.
This morning I was listening to Rock Klassiker as is my usual morning routine. They mentioned the UK Subs and The Vibrators were playing in Stockholm tonight. I checked online and right enough they are playing at the Hornstull Strand.
Some of you may not have heard of the UK Subs but they were big Punk names back in the late seventies and still touring today.
Hornstull Strand certainly looks like an alternative venue with alternative gigs, a bit leftfield I guess. Actually I was kicking myself last year as I missed a gig by the legendary New York Dolls! Not really my bag but certainly a bit of living music history there!
Hornstull Strand has a restaurant which does ‘urban food’, the menu looks quite good really.
Snag is I am double booked as I said I would meet the chaps tonight.
Ah well will see how it goes. They dont start till 9.15 and its only 120 SEK on the door…
