Hooligans, snobs and underdogs

Almost sounds like a title for another awful reality TV show, however its how the Local describes the three Stockholm teams in its guide for foreigners on the Allsvenskan.

It would have been nice to have seen some fresh insight on the clubs, calling AIK ‘Millwall’ is nothing new, Djurgården – posh toffs and Hammarby fans as all working class is nothing new.

OK I have met some AIK fans that don’t fight, I have seen some Djurgården fans who seem to have bought their clobber from Oxfam and shhh don’t tell anyone but I have seen some affluent looking types at Söderstadion as well.

OK the Local is not a footballing journal and at least it has tried to bring it to the attention of non Swedes living in Sweden but still.

Personally I enjoy the Allsvenskan, this scribe is right in that the standard is fairly lower in comparison with other countries but its still an exciting game to watch. I saw some absolute thrillers at Bajen last year and hope it continues but hopefully with Hammarby being on the right end of the heavy results this season.
