DN eller SvD?

SvD eller DN?

SvD eller DN?

I have Dagens Nyheter delivered to my home everyday. Its not a bad read, I flick through it and pick up interesting bits. I read it mainly to help my Swedish and to keep abreast of whats happening in Sweden.

However  the other morning I woke up to find a copy of Svenska Dagbladet on the doormat instead. Must be the same delivery company that distributes both competing papers. Most people would be horrified if this happened to them, imagine a Guardian reader finding a Telegraph on the doormat and you can understand. However I took the opportunity to read a rag that I normally wouldn’t buy.

I have always been scared off reading SvD because I assumed the language might be difficult to get to grips with. In fairness it was no different from DN and I actually found it to be more interesting. Certainly Svenska Dagbladet is to the Right politically but in a way this suits me as they expose in more detail the hypocrisy of the Rödgröna group.

I am not ready to switch yet as DN does have a lot on the social side for Stockholm and is a bit ‘younger’ in outlook but I wont discount Svenska Dagbladet just yet. I might pick one up on weekends and see what its like.

I have been buying “The Times” at the weekends, and must say while its a great newspaper, I am getting totally reamed by the cost (via pressbyran & Gallerian).

A Saturday version at £1.50 – comes in at 55:- when its available on a Sunday!

A Sunday version at £2 – comes in at 85:- when its available on a Monday!

And worst of all half the paper is missing as they remove the magazines and many of the supplements that are meant to come with it.

As for the Swedish papers, I would just go and buy a cup of coffee from “Waynes” in the morning and get the newspaper for free.

Wow thats steep Mark and for the Times!

Mind you it used to take me a week to read those Sunday papers when I was back home.

I quite like reading a paper over breakfast. I have my dictionary by my side and look up any recurring words I dont know, this morning it was sprickor!
