No not painting, dont be silly.
My walls are bare I need some art or something on them. As I am a single man I can have what I want.
But no, no naked women, fast cars but…
I have decided I will only put things up that inspire me or cheer me up. As is well documented on this blog I was a massive fan of Roger Moore as a kid and still am with his excellent work for UNICEF. I got the above poster from Allposters and had them frame it for me. I can really recommend them, fast delivery, great quality and safely wrapped.
Wonder if you can guess who the fella to the right is?
Its a fantastic quote:
‘The Nation needs coolness more than clarion calls;
intelligence more than charisma;
a sense of history more than a
sense of histronics’.
Of course its Richard Nixon. I cant help but think thats very true especially when I read today that 10% of Americans were given food stamps in January. It is shocking isnt it.
Then on the kitchen wall I have a fun poster:
I used to love The Man from U.N.C.L.E
I would race home aftermy paper round on Thursdays with a Topic chocolate bar to watch it!
Of course this was in the Eighties not the Sixties when it was first aired.
I was lucky enough to meet Napoleon Solo himself, in a bar in New York. Robert Vaughn was a delight to meet and what I didnt know and it shocked me. He is a real Left winger! Yeah! Mr Suave himself. He is very on the Left of the Democratic Party and he was asked to oppose Ronald Reagan when he ran for California Governor. He refused and Reagan went all the way to the White House.
Anyway UNCLE, I loved that sixties spy stuff and still do. I have recently bought all the Saint on DVD, black and white and colour all with Swedish subtitles.

I remember decorating my “single man” apartment in Hamburg. It also consisted of buying pictures and such like.
I quite miss that flat actually. It was above a kebab shop and about 5 minutes from the Reeperbahn (Hamburg’s pub and night club district).
So what pictures did you have up Dave?
I realise mine are an acquired taste, no woman would ever put up with my choices, I would need a ‘den’!
Rubbish from IKEA though I convinced myself they were really classy at the time..
