Our Man in Sweden

You must speak Swedish!

March 11, 2010

I was interested to read a piece on todays Local (Swedish news in English) about Brommapojkarna
Their Chairman Ola Danhard has told his players they must speak Swedish to be eligible to play for the team.  Brommapojkarna play in Swedens top flight.
In some ways I have sympathy with him. Clubs at this level cannot afford hoardes [...]

House Hunters International

March 10, 2010

I got an email from a Casting Agent tonight. There I was thinking it was for my charm or my good looks, surely not for my singing? But alas it was a mail from a Casting Agent looking for families or couples who have recently moved to Sweden. Thats me out, maybe just as well [...]

March 6, 2010

On Wednesday night I got to see Swansea City’s home ground on Swedish TV. Wales were playing Sweden.  The Swedes won 1-0 which wasnt a bad result considering how many injuries Wales had.

Today though is the real treat, Swansea take on Nottingham Forest away and its on TV4 sport! Its a rare treat to get [...]

One of the great things about keeping a blog is the email contact from people who are kind enough to write in.
A lady called Emma mailed me this week. There is a chance her partner may start work in Stockholm and they are considering the life changing move to Sverige.
They are visiting next week and [...]

Lars Ohly – what a clown!

February 28, 2010

Roughly translates as:
‘We see now how the collapse of neo-liberalism means that people can not [...]

Whistler

February 27, 2010

Nope this is not a Winter Olympics post.
The temperature has actually crept past the 0 degrees mark and so the snow is melting. The snow is turning into that awful dark slushy crap.
With that brings a real danger though. The snow forms into ice on the top of rooves so all over Stockholm you can [...]

Two months off the alcohol

February 26, 2010

Its now been two months since I drank. I realise these kind of posts make me sound like a recovering alcoholic which I am not.
I have kicked the booze into touch as I need all the help I can get in training for the Stockholm Half Marathon.  The hardest part has not been resisting the [...]

Sweden is right, the EU is wrong!

February 26, 2010

I am delighted to read that Swedens new EU Minister Birgitta Ohlsson is going to fight the EU over maternity leave.
The EU are saying that mother should be forced to stay at home for the first 6 weeks after childbirth. Sweden places equal emphasis on maternity and paternity care so they are against this latest [...]

8 kilos down 7 kilos to go!

February 24, 2010

A brief update on my fight against the flab.
Was chuffed to see the scales register 94.1 kgs this morning. Fantastic news. I was around 102/103 kgs before I started running so thats  a good 8 kilos off.  The juicing has been a tremendous help. Feel vibrant, more energy and the more rapid weight loss has [...]
