Learning Swedish with The Metro.
The Metro has spoken with 2 Royal experts -Roger Lundgren, Royal reporter for the Queen Magazine and Sten Hedman, Royal reporter with the gossip magazine ‘See and Hear’ – to answer a few questions regarding the engagement.
Who is going to marry them?
Archbishop Anders Wejryd, says Lundgren.
What happens if the King retires?
The King is never going to retire. He will reign for life. He has said this himself, says Lundgren.
Can Daniel become King?
No, Daniel can never become King. He is a Prince. If something happened to Victoria, it would be Carl Philip who takes the throne says Lundgren.
Must Carl Philip and Madeleine wait for Victoria to get married and have kids before they do?
There are no rules about the Crown Princess having to marry before her brother and sister, but there will not be room for a wedding before Victorias says Lundgren.
The Royal Court are considering where they will reside. Where do you think they will end up?
I have a theory that they will also live at Drottningholm Palace. It has plenty of rooms and there is no overcrowding. It will be quite expensive to have 2 Royal Families who needed to be guarded constantly
Victoria may not cut off the umbilical cord just yet then?
An alternative is for the King and Queen, to move into the Royal Palace in Stockholm, then Daniel and Victoria can take over Drottningholm. They can also consider staying at Ulriksdal Palace in Solna, which is also fairly central.
What will the wedding be like?
It will be a day wedding in Storkyrkan. The cortege will pass through the town and a wedding feast in the evening. I dont think it will be a wedding that will last several days. I think its going to be very similar to the Queen and King’s wedding in 1976.

I have often wondered what gives someone the right to be royalty when you consider back in history the cruel and often heartless treatment of others in the name of a monarch. I can remember the Princess Diana saga and how badly The Queen treated her, and how she refused to initially acknowledge her death even though she was the mother of the Princes. I find Monarchy to be self righteous and pompous and serve little for the regular folk. The queen may generate some monies for the country as tourist love her, but not sure what else she does?
